What are custom fiber optic cable assemblies?

A fiber optic cable assembly is a pre-terminated, factory-tested cable ready for installation — combining a fiber cable (singlemode or multimode), a protective jacket construction, and polished connectors at one or both ends. Unlike bulk fiber that requires field termination, assemblies are tested for insertion loss and return loss before shipping, eliminating the variables of field polishing and inspection.

North America Fiber Optics supplies custom assemblies built to your exact specification: any length, any fiber type (OS2 singlemode or OM1–OM5 multimode), any cable construction, and any connector combination. Custom labeling, serialized barcodes, private branding, and project kitting are standard options.

Every assembly is built and tested in Taiwan to IEC and TIA/EIA standards and shipped with a test report. We support telecom, data center, industrial, utility, mining, transportation, and broadcast applications — including harsh-environment and armored constructions for outdoor and direct-burial installations.

Are the assemblies tested before shipping?+

Yes. Every assembly is tested for insertion loss and return loss at the factory. Test reports are available on request.

What is the minimum order quantity for custom assemblies?+

Custom assemblies are available in small quantities for qualification or evaluation. Volume pricing applies at higher quantities. Submit a quote request with your specification and we will confirm availability and lead time.

Can you match an existing cable specification?+

Yes. Provide a datasheet, sample cable, or written specification and we will match the fiber type, construction, connector, jacket material, and any labeling requirements.

Do you supply LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) jacketed cables?+

Yes. LSZH jacket options are available for indoor installations where fire safety codes require low-halogen materials, including transportation, tunnels, and public facilities.

What are the lead times for custom fiber cable assemblies?+

Lead times depend on construction complexity and quantity. Standard single-mode and multimode LC/SC assemblies typically ship within 5–10 business days. Armored, ribbon, or specialty constructions may require longer lead times, confirmed at time of quote.
